Battle of the Keys Ladder League

this is an exclusive venue for our games which features electronically-ranked matches between members - the matches are called "ladder games" because the idea is to climb up the ladder by winning ladder games...each member may only play a maximum of 5 ladder games with the same member per day, but she may play with as many other members per day with the same rule (maximum 5 ladders per same opponent)...

a special page in the blog will be dedicated to ladder matches between members and shall be hosted by a TD (Tournament Director)... you may simply inform the TD ahead of time if you and another member wish to hold ladder games so that a specific schedule will be set...1 on 1 ladder games will be set with 3 rounds, loser will report the loss at the end of each round...one cannot start playing ladder games until she signs up to be a ladder member...

CHOOSE A LADDER NAME : as an example, ladder names that you could now find activated are Windtalker, daVix, daOz, mrsApplehead, takori, jg21, lyerka, isay, mari, dolphin...please try to think of a unique name or handle before signing up;

SIGN UP : do the 4-step procedure; you will receive an activation key from igl.net so you can activate your account;

GENERAL RULES & POLICIES OF THE LADDER SYSTEM : once you've activated your account and now considered a ladder member, please try to take some time to view the guidelines here so that you will have a clearer idea how all these work...matches and tournaments will have corresponding special rules depending on how the Tournament Director wishes to set it up; such rules will provide variety to each game you wish to join in.

REPORT LOSS : report the ladder match you've just lost in, hopefully within 5 minutes after the match...you will be asked to log-in your ladder name and password the first time you will report a loss...then you type the ladder name of your opponent; the system will take care of posting the report and adjusting your statistics; however, during tournaments, do not report your losses as the TD will take care of posting the results.

CHECK YOUR STATS : try to regularly check the current ladder standings as regards to ranks and statistics amongst members, including yourself - this will provide you with a clearer picture on who are on the top ranks and so forth...

USER EDITOR : click on this link if you wish to change your ladder name or email address...please do not sign up again to do it, simply go to the User Editor and key in the changes you wish to do...however, you may not change your ladder name while in the 10 Ten...also, you are allowed to change your ladder name just once every 3 months...

TOURNAMENT CALENDAR : this is where you will find schedules of tournaments in various formats. the league follows Eastern Time (US) so please take note of this and try to adjust accordingly;

Once we have four (4) activated members who are willing to play a tournament, say, NTT LIVE MINIS, then we can schedule tourneys regularly and during times when it is most convenient for all...the games would probably be spanning from 45minutes to an hour - unless more players are still willing to play, it would be easy to do impromptus anyway...tournaments have a minimum of 4 players...

any 2 or 3 players who wish to have ladder challenge matches may just leave a note at the cbox or YM, or send an email indicating an intent to play...you may also leave a note at the cbox at any given time if you're looking for a ladder match - just type "ladder anyone?" - am sure those who are available will take up on the offer...a sample of the NTT LIVE ladder match may be viewed here.

TOURNAMENT DIRECTORS : this is where you will find a list of TD's that hosts matches or tourneys, if you see one and there's an opportunity for a match or tourney which could be set up impromptu, please don't hesitate to make your request; applications to become a TD is also in this page;

HALL OF FAME : this is where top statistics are recorded and usually provides the incentive for ladder members to play and win more games or tourneys.

note: if you wish to have a specific game included in the ladder which may be played by 2 or more players, please feel free to provide your suggestions (i.e. scrabble, literati, hoyle wordox, word whomp, etc)...this league was created to provide members other means to have fun while you have an hour or two of absolute free time to spare in the net.
